Kalisz is the second Wielkopolska City referring to its size, commonly considered as the oldest Polish city. The last records about Kalisz date back to the 2nd century of our era and are written by Claudius Ptolemy, as Calisia was located on the Amber Trade Route.
The rich and great role of Kalisz in the history of Poland is proved by numerous monuments, archeological excavations, documents. Currently, Kalisz is modern, academic centre where the seats of many cultural, scientific and business institutions are located.
